Archeology and Immigration in the Madawaska Valley

May 30

|Recurring Event (See all)
Daily until June 11, 2017

This exhibit is for anyone who has ever tried to imagine how the first people lived in the Madawaska Valley – thousands of years before the arrival of European explorers.

The lower gallery, curated by Don Webb, focuses on the archeology of pre-contact Madawaska Valley up to the end of the 18th century. In the upper gallery, displays provided by the community illustrate local immigration patterns of the 19th and 20th centuries, showing which parts of the world settlers left behind to start their new lives.

The exhibit is anchored by a physical timeline that reaches around the gallery walls. In both galleries these are your neighbours’ stories and your own.
